EBT 14 Run Extra

October 18, 1952.
Empties for the mines have been piling up below the coal washer at Mt. Union, and the yardmaster wants his tracks back. Engine 14 has been called early with Form 31 orders to run extra Orbisonia to Mt. Union, pick up whatever empties the switch crew has spotted, and return to Orbisonia. The run down to Mt. Union takes place without incident, and Conductor John Hooper finds 7 empty hoppers spotted for coupling between Engine 14 and his rider combine. Train assembled and airbrakes tested, the extra now sets off southbound into the light of a crisp fall morning in the Aughwick Valley.
